One Piece

One Piece (ワンピース) is a shōnen manga series created by Eiichiro Oda, pre-published for the first time on 4 August 1997, and still being published. In Japan, the chapters are pre-published in the weekly magazine Weekly shōnen Jump, and are grouped into bound volumes every three months, published by Shueisha since December 24, 1997. Manga knows success very quickly, leading studios Production I.G to test the popularity of manga on the screen. An OAV is created and broadcast on Japanese television in 1998. The rights to the series will then be acquired by the company Toei Animation which adapts the manga anime, this version has been running since 1999. Japanese viewers can enjoy the dissemination of this animated adaptation from almost every Sunday or so nearly 15 years.


The series currently has more than 650 episodes. Many products have been created, enjoying the wave of success brought by the license each year, such as novels, drama, figures and video games. One Piece follows the adventures of a crew of pirates whose captain Monkey D. Luffy, whose dream is to get One Piece and become King of the Pirates, famous priceless treasure that belonged to the lord pirate Gol D. Roger executed it has more than twenty years; one who discovered this treasure will in turn become the lord of the pirates.

One Piece is the highest-selling manga in Japan, each volume ranks first place upon its release. In 72 volumes, total circulation of volumes of One Piece currently stands at 300 million copies in Japan only. It is also the highest-selling manga in the world than Dragon Ball Akira Toriyama with the end of 2013, more than 345 million copies.
